Abstract

|
Recently, the so called" single dosage schedule" has gained wide popularity in the treatment of gonorrhea. Certainly this type of drug ad-ministration which requires no follow-up has many advantages for grouped patients such as the prostitutes living in the vibes, but as yet, there are no well documented reports on its effectiveness in Korea.
This study was purposed to gain the antibiotic efficacy for 190 girls with confirmed cases of gonorrhea by the single dosage schedule, and sensitivity test with 50 strains of N. gonorrhea isolated from cultures.
Antibiotic susceptibility tests must be performed prior to the selection of an antibiotic for the treatment of gonorrhea due to the high rate of resistant strains. It is also noted that penicillin cannot be recommended as an effective therapeutic agent for girls in the vile because of the resistance to it. Single dosage schedule in the treatment of gonorrhea is considered to be recommended in the economical and psychological aspects.
